Co-Op Calendar terms of use (beta draft)
Last changed: October 19, 2026.
These are the rules for using Co-Op Calendar: the app, our server and co-cal.com. By using Co-Op Calendar you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
Who we are
Co-Op Calendar is published by the individual developer named on its App Store and TestFlight page, not by a company. "We", "us" and "our" in these terms mean that publisher. Two people build and run Co-Op Calendar, and anyone who runs it with the publisher acts for the publisher.
Who may use it
- You must be 13 or older.
- If you are under 18, use Co-Op Calendar only with a parent's or guardian's permission where the law where you live requires it.
- We don't ask for your age or your birth date, and we don't store them. When you sign in, you confirm that you are 13 or older.
- If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we delete it.
Your account
- You sign in with your email address and a one-time code sent to it. There are no passwords, so anyone who can read your email can sign in as you: keep your email account safe.
- Use an email address that is yours, and only your own account.
- You can delete your account at any time: Account, then Delete account. Your data is deleted, not hidden. The same screen offers Export my data first, a file with everything our database keeps about you. What is deleted, and what stays (copies in our backups for up to 8 days, and a group name you typed, which the members who remain still see), is in the privacy policy.
Community standards
Co-Op Calendar is for planning time with people you know. We don't tolerate objectionable content or abuse. These rules cover your display name, group names, the times you propose and your answers, invite links, and anything you show other people, such as the labels of items you share from your schedule.
Don't use Co-Op Calendar to:
- harass, bully, threaten or intimidate anyone;
- attack or demean people for who they are, such as their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation or gender identity;
- share sexually explicit content, and never anything sexual involving a minor;
- pretend to be someone else, or to be us;
- share someone's private details, such as their phone number or address, without their permission;
- do or encourage anything illegal;
- send people unwanted proposals or requests over and over;
- get into other people's accounts or data, or break, overload or get around the limits of the app or our server.
Display names and group names are checked against a list of offensive words, and a name that includes one of them is refused. Before an item from your schedule is shared, your phone checks its label against the same list; nothing is sent to us for that. A list can't catch everything, so please report what it misses.
Reporting
If someone breaks these rules, tell us:
- In the app: use Report. On a member's row in a group, or on their page, you can report their name or something they did. On a group's screen, you can report the group's name. On someone's page, you can report an item they show you from their schedule.
- By email: write to privacy@co-cal.com.
We look at every report within 24 hours. We never tell the person you reported who reported them. A report sends us only what the privacy policy lists under "Reports you send". We can't read the items people share with each other, so when you report one, your report carries the one label you choose to send us, and who shared it.
What we may do
If someone breaks these terms, we may:
- reset their display name (they show as "A member" until they pick a new one);
- reset a group name;
- remove them from a group;
- suspend their account: they stay in their groups, but a suspended account can only export its data or delete itself.
We delete an account ourselves only if we learn that it belongs to someone under 13, or if a legal order requires it. Otherwise, deleting your account is your choice. We don't read anyone's busy times or shared schedules to decide a report.
If you think we got a decision wrong, write to privacy@co-cal.com.
Blocking
You can block anyone you share a group with, from their row in a group or from their page. After a block, you no longer see their name in your groups, or get requests or notifications caused by them, and any schedule sharing between you ends. They aren't told.
A block doesn't take them out of your groups, and they still count in the group's free times. To stop that, leave the group. You can unblock someone later: Account, then Blocked.
The beta
- Co-Op Calendar is in beta. Features may change, break or be removed, and we may pause or stop the beta, or the whole service, at any time.
- The beta is free. Whatever we charge for later, blocking, reporting, leaving a group, exporting your data and deleting your account will always be free.
- Things can go wrong in a beta, and you could lose data. Don't rely on Co-Op Calendar as the only place you keep your plans. Your My schedule items exist only on your phone: if you delete the app or lose the phone, they are gone.
- If you got Co-Op Calendar from Apple, through TestFlight or the App Store, Apple's own terms for apps apply as well as these.
No warranty
We provide Co-Op Calendar as it is and as available. Apart from what these terms and the privacy policy say, we make no promises about it: not that it will always work, be available, or show the right free times. Free times come from what each member's phone sends, so check with your group before you rely on one. Nothing here changes what the privacy policy promises.
Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost data, for missed or changed plans, or for what other people do in the app. Some places don't allow these limits; there, they apply only as far as the law allows.
Privacy
How we handle your data is in the privacy policy, at co-cal.com/privacy. Our server sees when you are busy, never what you are doing. If these terms and the privacy policy ever seem to disagree about your data, the privacy policy applies.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. For a material change, we post the new version here at least 14 days before it takes effect, with the date it takes effect, and the old terms apply until then. Other changes, such as clearer wording that doesn't change what the terms mean, take effect when we post them. Every version shows its "Last changed" date. If you keep using Co-Op Calendar after a change takes effect, the new terms apply; if you don't agree with them, you can delete your account.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about them or about Co-Op Calendar goes to the state or federal courts located in Florida. Before you file anything, please write to us first at privacy@co-cal.com, and we'll try to resolve it within 30 days. These terms have no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver.
